Is the lack of tolerance of some 'Man-Made' Global Warming enthusiasts damaging to the environment?
Q. Many of the enthusiasts won't tolerate any sort debate or disagreement to the theory of MMGW. They quickly resort to insult ..., now the other side of the argument don't always behave themselves either, but the enthusiasts are generally the less tolerant of opinions that don't agree with their own. Will their lack of debate over such a potentially serious issue damage the credibility of the environmentalists in the long run? I think maybe it will..., people don't like to be pushed, instead they need to be encouraged.

A. I would say it is damaging to the credibility of science. When science is so obviously hijacked for political advantage, people will begin to lose respect for science. When money and preconcieved ideas drive science, we all lose. Will it hurt the environment? I think the exaggeration of AGW has caused some deforestation in the tropics to produce biofuels. Perhaps that was inevitable but they should be a little more mindful of unintended consequences. I am srue there are other examples I didn't think of.

A. I hate Sylvia Browne. I don't know what it is about her, but I think she is a HUGE phoney. No mediums that I know would EVER charge the amount of money she charges for a reading. That right there tells me she can't possible have a real gift. People with gifts feel compelled to share it with the world, to help those that they can. Not charge them a fortune. But yeah...she rubs me the wrong way. I hate her attitude as well. She's very condescending, very high on herself.

Do Man-made global warming enthusiasts realize that scientific fact is not determined by a head count?
Q. Scientific consensus does not equal FACT. If it did, the Earth would still be flat and in the center of the universe.

A. Exactly. A couple of skeptics actually had the mathematical proof that the sun was at the center of the solar system. It was the majority view, the consensus of the time that labeled these skeptics as heretics and were punished by the gvmt at the time. Sound familiar? Why is it that man never learns from his past mistakes?

Tattoo enthusiasts---- How would you rate each area for pain in tattoos?
Q. I'm planning out a tattoo, but I really want to know the differences between different parts of the body in relation to pain. I don't know if I'd ever get more than one, but I'd rather not have my one and only be in the most painful spot of all. I'm really considering my back or my neck.. one friend recommended near my ear. Does anyone have these and have a comparison of pain? Thanks so much!!!
Asked by Grayson - Fri Apr 18 03:22:27 2008 - - 16 Answers - 1 Comments
A. In general pain varies from person to person but there are places that are more likely to hurt than others. Tattoo's on fatty/muscly areas generally hurt less than areas that have bone directly below them (a tattoo on the ribs would hurt significantly more than a tattoo on the thigh). You also have to remember that the size, complexity of the design and the shading involved will also effect the level of pain. Shading involves going over the same area and thus hurts more than outlines. If you are worried about pain then ask the tattooist where he thinks the best place would be when you have chosen a design. The back of the neck should not hurt too much.

Dental Enthusiasts: Will there be any problems if I get braces over my amalgam fillings?
Q. I have a few and can just imagine the braces moving the filling and getting a toxic spill of mercury. What is the likelyhood of any mercury vapor or liquid being released because of the braces? Thanks for your expertise.
Asked by Click Here - Mon Jun 23 17:27:49 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Mercury vapours aren't really likely to be released in this way - the material has set and the vapours have mostly gone, there's no way the mercury could spill either. There could be other problems if the fillings are large or the tooth is root-treated, cracks or fractures could happen if the tooth has been weakened. Your orthodontist will be able to tell you if this is the case and if you're able to get braces in your case - but the most likely answer is yes. All the best!

Bicycle enthusiasts: How can I service a bicycle that hasn't been used in 3 years?
Q. What should I lube up and tighten up, etc..? My bike is in great shape still, but it's been hung up for all this time and I want a trouble free ride. Any info appreciated!
Asked by Joe - Sun Jun 21 23:20:55 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You've had three years to think about this :) If the bike has been protected from the elements, there's little that could have changed since the last time you rode it. If you're in doubt, take it for a short spin around the block and listen to it. Bikes tend to talk to us through their squeak-creak-creech language when something isn't right. If something is noisy or feels tight/loose, address that problem and be done with it. Or, strip it down, completely clean every component and interface, and rebuild it if you're looking for a way to entertain yourself next weekend.

They are usually included in the tupelo family Nyssaceae, but sometimes included (with the tupelos) in the dogwood family Cornaceae. There are two species: Camptotheca acuminata Decne. Camptotheca lowreyana S.Y.Li The name 'happy tree' is a direct translation of the Chinese name xi shu. An extract from the tree (camptothecin) is used as an anti-cancer treatment in China

You'll find mostly the same attractions, but here are the main differences between the two... if I remember well... Space Mountain in Paris has nothing in common with the one in Orlando : it's more like Aerosmith (with greater visuals). Big Thunder Mountain is much faster than in Orlando, but it's still ok for the kids. Indiana Jones is ok (not for the kids) but is very short. Under the castle, there's a dragon. The kids will like it... but may be afraid when it moves. In a more general way, Disneyland Paris is smaller than Disneyworld, but the rides are technically better (being newer).
