Can someone tell me the auto racing leagues that pay their drivers the most money?
Q. I'm just wondering, becuase there are dozens of auto racing leagues around the world, and I'm sure that only a handful of them pay their drivers good money, so I'm wondering which ones they are?

A. Money in auto racing is related to exposure and TV endorsements, visibility and popularity. Clearly, a league that has no coverage is of less interst for sponsors, etc. One thing leads to another. Worldwide the most followed auto category is Formula One. In North America it is Nascar (Nextel Cup). So, in these cases, aside from the actual driver's salary, there are many endorsements which usually are bigger than the salary itself. Salaries in auto racing are dictated by experience and winning track record. Schumacher certainly had the highest salary among all of his mates. However, second comes popularity. Raikkonen in F1 hasn't won any world title so far, but his salary is the highest in F1 today. Alonso has won two titles, and his… [cont.]

Where do I get Auto Racing Sponsorships?
Q. I have a 2003 Mitsubish Lancer Evolution 8, and I would like to race it semi pro on the track. I am totaly against stret racing, the track is the only place for that. I don't have alot of money so I need to find a sponsor to help me get started. I have no track experience so training would be first. I have lived on windy country roads all of my life so I'm not new to preformance driving and handeling characteristics of automobiles. It has always been a dream of mine to race, but I have never been able to make it a reality. Can you help? or do you know of someone (company) that could?

A. Your ambition is great! Unfortunately, you're between a rock & a hard spot. Serious racing sponsors consider not just experienced racers, but only those with winning records. Nobody wants to be in last place & few want to be connected with a nameless rookie. I know that sounds cruel, but those are the facts. Before I retired, approving & issuing sponsorships for racecars & show cars was part of my job. I turned down hundreds of racers & only bought into a few each year. If you can grasp the reality that no one is going to pay you to learn (if they would, we'd all be drivers), I can tell you how to proceed. You need to eat, sleep & breathe racing. Why does Ford waste money on Auto Racing?
Q. They get their butt kicked in NASCAR by Chevy and Dodge. They got laughed out of Formula-One. We all _know_ their cars are second-rate junk. Why do they feel compelled to spend money on auto racing to prove what everyone already knows? (Please: No flashbacks to the Iacocca years in the '60's. They don't matter anymore.)

A. Auto Racing is a sport, It's entertainment to many. As in any sport there are winnners & there are losers. If you lose a game or a race , do you stop playing? Do Chicago Cubs leave major league baseball because they aren't World Champions like the Sox. Why do Toyota, Honda & Nissan keep trying to sell pick-up trucks? Or Chevy & Dodge, for that matter, when every body knows Ford has the truck market locked up? (for the last 30 Years) Why do Chevy & Dodge & Nissan fall WAY below the industry average when it comes to quality & dependability ( according to J. D. Powers 3 year study) And Ford, Lincoln & Mercury all are ABOVE the industry average? (along with Honda & Toyota )
