Q. I've read up a little and it said that tint can only be on the back window and back door windows (if 4 door) but only 4 in. at the top of the windows in the front seats and front window. However, I've also heard from various people that you can tint the entire front windows and front seat windows up to 20% light reduction. I kinda believe the 20% part because a lot of cars come with factory tinting.

A. Michigan Window Tint Law Michigan Tint Law Enacted: 2000 how dark can window tint be in michigan? Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Michigan, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows Any darkness can be applied 4" inches from the top of the window. Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used. Rear Window Any darkness can be used. how reflective can the tint be in michigan?
