complaintsDefinition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary Jump to: navigation, searchFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A complaint, in legal terminology, is a formal legal document that sets out the facts and legal reasons (see: cause of action) that the filing party (the plaintiffs) believes are sufficient to support a claim against another person, persons, entity or entities (the defendants) that entitles the plaintiff(s) to a remedy (either money damages or injunctive relief). For example, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure that govern civil litigation in United States courts provide that a civil action is commenced with the filing or service of a pleading called a complaint. Civil court rules in states that have incorporated the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure use the same term for the same pleading. In some jurisdictions, specific types of criminal cases may also be commenced by the filing of a complaint, also sometimes called a criminal complaint or felony complaint. All criminal cases are prosecuted in the name of the governmental authority that promulgates criminal statutes and enforces the police power of the state with the goal of seeking criminal sanctions, such as the State (also sometimes called the People) or Crown (in Commonwealth realms). In the United States, the complaint is often associated with misdemeanor criminal charges presented by the prosecutor without the grand jury process. In most U.S. jurisdictions, the charging instrument presented to and authorized by a grand jury is referred to as an indictment. In many U.S. jurisdictions, a complaint submitted to a court must be accompanied by a Case Information Statement, which sets forth specific key information about the case and the lawyers representing the parties. This allows the judge to make determinations about which deadlines to set for different phases of the case, as it moves through the court system. In some countries, (for example Australia and the UK and many countries of the European Community), the making of consumer complaints, particularly regarding the sale of financial services, is governed by statute. The statutory authority may require companies to reply to complaints within set time limits, publish written procedures for handling customer dissatisfaction and provide information about arbitration schemes. GNU Free Documentation License How can I review past tenant complaints about my current landlord? Q. I just moved into a new place, and an acquaintance told me she used to live in the building because the landlord was a nightmare. She said I can look up past complaints somewhere. Does anyone know where I can get that info? A background check on landlord? I live in San Francisco. Thanks! Asked by treauj2122 - Wed Aug 1 22:38:57 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. You may try Rent.com. They provide a forum for current and past tenants. As for a background check on a landlord, you could try PeopleSearch.com. A PI service that, for a fee, will find the info you require. Answered by nuts4tv - Wed Aug 1 23:00:07 2007 What is a good website for consumer complaints? Q. I have a ThermosCafe (one of those thermos that hold coffee and hot drinks) and I would like to find consumer comments (mainly complaints) on this product. I personally check Complaints Board (complaintsboard.com) before I make any online deal. Besides a bunch of useful information, it helped me to resolve my matter with the company. Good luck ;) Answered by DavidG - Wed Apr 21 17:25:19 2010 My mind keeps coming up with complaints or resentments. How can I train it to stop?
Q. I don't like it. It's usually about someone who has said or not said something, done or not something, and my mind thinks thoughts of resentment and complaints. Even if valid, I'd like to feel love for all. I end up keeping some grudges because of the complaints. How can I stop this. Need harmony and would like to feel love for all. How can one achieve this despite disappointments/internal anger one can feel. Thanks guys.. Asked by Flame - Sun Feb 14 11:08:20 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Joyce Meyer wrote a book called Battlefield of the Mind. She says when you get stinking thinking, you have to trade your negative thoughts for positive ones, and you have to do it on purpose. So when you get stinking thinking, you trade for your favorite song, poem, Bible verse, joke, something positive. I pick a song at the beginning of the day and when I am feeling bummed, I think of that song. You have to let go of the anger you feel for others. Write down 3 positive things that happen to you each day and then you will start to notice the positive.
