From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Oxford (pronounced /ˈɒksfɚd/ ( listen)) is a city, and the county town of Oxfordshire, in South East England. The city has a population of just under 165,000, with 151,000 living within the district boundary. The rivers Cherwell and Thames run through Oxford and meet south of the city centre. For a distance of some 10 miles (16 km) along the river, in the vicinity of Oxford, the Thames is known as The Isis. The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Buildings in Oxford demonstrate an example of every British architectural period since the arrival of the Saxons, including the iconic, mid-18th century Radcliffe Camera. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold in reference to the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings. From Wikipedia under the

I've been having a hard time finding an answer to this question, so I was hoping someone could help me. I'm a junior high school student from the United States, and I was wondering what the cost of attending the University of Oxford for undergraduate studies is for international students. Q. Specifically, what are some of the most prestigious clubs and societies to try and join/gain acceptance into at Oxford? Thanks! Asked by Greg - Fri Sep 12 00:32:57 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, for a start, if you ask that question people will laugh at you. You don't join clubs and societies at Oxford because they are "prestigious". You join them because they do things you enjoy doing. There are clubs which are selective - but you'll need serious skills to get into them. Are you a singer? Then audition for Schola Cantorum. A rower? OUBC. Seriously, if you think that Oxford is about prestige and social climbing, you're in for a shock. Nobody will care whether you choose to join the Oxford Union or the Pooh Sticks Society, or whether you row for the Blue boat or your college's 4th VIII. Q. I have heard that Oxford University is the best. What are your opinions? Asked by Vaibhav - Wed Feb 25 05:20:31 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Reasons Why if might be the best: 1. Tutors. The people who teach at Oxford are, in many cases, already high up in their fields, or are rising stars. Surprisingly often undergraduates are taught by tutors who actually *did* "write the book on it". 2. Tutorial System. Undergrads at Oxford are taught in tutorial groups often of only 2 or 3 student to one tutor. Tutorials are frequent, on the order of 3 every fortnight, with essays set for each. This means that every student has a good opportunity to discuss the material with the tutor, and no one can escape doing the work by not drawing attention to themselves. 3. Pressure. Oxford terms are short (8 weeks) and the workload is much higher than at other universities. This means that students… [cont.] Answered by emanwelgwent - Fri Feb 27 08:00:29 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "oxford" Oxford Industries Up 108.4% Since smartrend's Buy Recommendation
